Earlier today, our water system experienced low water pressure due to frozen pipes, including the main water feed pipe that brings water from the North Harris County Regional Water Authority to our water plant. This created an inability to fill the ground storage tanks, which resulted in water level draw down and eventually system lockout. The frozen lines were thawed, the tanks refilled and the system was restored to normal service by around 11:00 am. Thank you all for contacting us regarding this matter. Due to the large volume of calls, and a staffing shortfall resulting from icy road conditions, some calls were not making it through to our office. The District’s attorney received calls from many of you, and they forwarded the information to us to respond. While the system problems were promptly and efficiently addressed and water delivery was restored quickly, this system failure pointed out some shortcomings in the District’s communication systems. Consequently, we will be performing a complete review of our phone systems and notification protocol, and will be proposing some improvements, including implementation of a mass notification system, in order to keep you, our customers better informed.
